Infectious Diseases 2015 Workshop

Public Health Ontario’s Infectious Diseases 2015 Workshop is a two-day professional education event focused on building capacity, sharing expertise, and guiding action to prevent and mitigate transmission of infectious diseases.

Event Date and Time: October 8-9, 2015 (2 day workshop)

Recommended Audience:

The symposium is designed for those already working in the field and interested in infectious disease prevention, surveillance and management. The target audience includes public infection prevention and control/communicable disease program managers, public health nurses, public health inspectors, epidemiologists and communications colleagues working in CD/IPAC and surveillance.

An application to CIPHI Ontario Branch for Professional Development Hours (CoPE) will be submitted.

Key Themes:

The themes for this workshop focus on surveillance, disease prevention and control, infection prevention and control and communication. These key activities are critical to inform and strengthen our collective responses for effective prevention and mitigation of infectious diseases of public health importance.

Breakout sessions will be an opportunity to explore and exchange ideas between colleagues from Public Health Ontario, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and local public health units.

Objectives:

The objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Discuss planned and existing provincial strategies and frameworks relevant to surveillance
  • Strengthen skills and knowledge in infection prevention and control through skill building and collaboration.
  • Effectively apply public health management tools in response to suspected infectious diseases
  • Discuss the development and implementation of innovative approaches to reaching and influencing clinicians behaviour
  • Develop professional networks within the infectious disease and infection prevention and control related community
